Research Methodology
Questionnaire
A research instrument consisting of a series of questions for the purpose of gathering information from respondents.
What is Questionnaire?
A questionnaire is typically a structured set of written questions (open-ended or closed-ended) administered to a sample. They can be self-administered or administered by a researcher, and are heavily used in survey research.
Why Questionnaire Matters
It allows for the efficient and standardized collection of large amounts of data from widespread populations at a relatively low cost.
Example
A public health researcher distributes a 20-item online questionnaire to assess the dietary habits of teenagers across a school district.
Common Mistakes
- Using double-barreled questions (asking two things at once).
- Including leading questions that bias the respondent toward a particular answer.
